Grouper
Average size: 60 cm
Maximum size: over 150 cm
The so called groupers have an ovoid body covered in middle sized scales. They have a very big head and a large mouth with a more prominent lower jaw. The caudal fin is rounded and the gills are endowed with sharp and stout spines. Flanks and back are dark brown and the belly is yellow-orange. The whole body is patched by sallow spots. They are caught with fish-trap and gill nets.
