Rainbow wrasse
Average size: 11 cm
Maximum size: 23 cm
Just like the other labridaes, the rainbow wrasse is a hermaphrodite, spending the first part of its life as a female and the last part as a male, after a transitory phase called sexual inversion. The rainbow wrasse is a benthic species which lives on rocky bottoms and prairies of phanerogams, from few meters of depth up to 150 meters. It is caught with fish-traps.
