Manna ash (Flaxinus ornus), is originally from southern and eastern Europe, in Italy it has spread everywhere up to 1,000 meters in the north and 1,500 in the south.

The plant is present throughout the Province of Salerno, in the Vallone Porto di Positano. Today it is widely used as an ornamental plant.The Manna ash is a plant of the family Oleaceae, it is a tree of 4-8 meters in height. The Manna ash is an interesting species for forestry, as it can be considered a pioneer species, resisting harsh weather conditions, therefore suitable for afforestation of deserts and drought.
