The Downy oak (Quercus pubescens) ,is the most widespread oak species in Italy, so that in many places it is simply called oak.
Belonging to the family Fagaceae, this plant is found mainly in the sunniest places in the South at altitudes between sea level and 1000 m above sea level In Salerno Province is located along the coast.
The oak tree grows up to 20 meters and with time it develop a broad crown. They are very long-lived and can live for many hundreds of years.
