Cuttle-fish
Average size: 20-25 cm
Maximum size: 40-45 cm
The cuttle-fish is a cephalopod mollusk with ovoid body, pretty short and compressed on the back and the belly. It usually lives alone on several type of coastal bottoms and it breeds during spring letting out its characteristic black eggs disposed in clusters called “sea grapes”. During colder months it moves under deeper waters. It is caught with fish traps or by scuba fishermen.
