Common Raven
The common raven (Corvus corax Linneo 1758) is an all-black passerine bird of the family Corvidae. Alongside the Corvus crassirostris (Thick-billed raven) is the largest bird of its family but also among the passeriformes.
This species can be found all over Europe. In the Province of Salerno it can be seen in the area of the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park. It is protected in Italy.
It is one of the few animals which live in both continents without having been imported by men. It lives in wild and hard to reach places, such as rocky areas, forests. In same case it can even live in urbanized areas, provided that it is not disturbed by people. If caught in its first years of life it can be easily tamed and it proves to be a very intelligent bird. It grows fond of its owner and it can even learn how to imitate human voice and solve elementary problems.
