Date mussel
Average size: 5 cm
Maximum size: 12 cm
It is a bivalvia species. It has an extended sub-cylindrical shell with smooth borders and no teeth. The color is brown and the inside is whitish with light blue reflections. It corrodes limestone with the help of the valves’ movements and thanks to an acid substance. Fishing is absolutely not allowed, especially because of the extremely destructive fishing technique used in the past.
