The Erba-unta amalfitana (Pinguicola hirtiflora), is extremely rare and grows in colonies between mossy ravines and limestone walls. Tiny insects stuck to the surface of the leaves and are then slowly digested by the plant, the leaves has a sticky secretion that contains enzymes that are able to assimilate proteins.
The leaves has a pale green-yellow color and are oval shaped. It does only flower in the spring and the early summer and the flowers are white and pale violet.
In Italy the flower is present at some places in the south. It can be found in the Vallone porto di Positano.
