The common chiffchaff (Phylloscopus collybita) is a migratory passerine recently placed in Phylloscopidae family instead of Silvidi family where belonged before. It is a common and widespread leaf warbler which breeds in open woodlands. In Italy,can be observed in Punta Campanella Marine Reserve.
Greenish-brown above and off-white below with dark feet, it is easy to be concealed, because of its plumage. This species, like other, is named onomatopoeically for its simple chiff-chaff song. It has been recorded as eating insects, mainly flies, along with other small and medium-sized invertebrates and small fruits. It feeds almost continuously in the autumn to put on extra fat as fuel for the long migration flight.
The common chiffchaff has an enormous range and many subspecies and it is evaluated as "least concern" by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
