Free-tailed Bat
The free-tailed bat is a mammal in the order Chiroptera and it can be found all over Italy. In Campania they are not very numerous but they have been seen in the Monti Lattari Regional Park in the area of Ravello, Sorrento and Piano di Sorrento.
This species is nocturnal while during the day it hides in walls’ cracks or between rocks, both in summer and winter. During winter it does not go in hibernation but it fall in a state of deep torpidity, from which it awakes when it is disturbed or when the temperature gets milder.
