Bird's Nest Orchid (Neottia nidus-avis), is belonging to the family of Orchidaceae.
The typical habitat of this plant are among areas with moss or a lot of dead leaves in forests it prefers cool and shady places.
The name refers to the particular shape of the roots "nest". In greek "Neottia" .The specific term further confirms this concept: nidus avis is Latin and means bird's nest.
This orchid has the typical colors of autumn:the whole plant is yellow-brown. It is a tall plant around 15-50 cm.
The whole family of Orchidaceae is considered to absolute protection of the entire national territory.
