Octopus

Average size: 60 cm

Maximum size: 120 cm

The octopus is maybe one of the most intelligent sea invertebrates and it has incredible mimetic abilities being able to change its color and shape quickly according to the habitat. During the hottest months it lives between 2 and 25 meters of depth, while during winter it moves under 200m on sandy bottoms. It is commonly caught with fish-trap or with the so called “polpara”, a local fishing technique that requires patience and skill. It is usually used by old fishermen.
