The Sessile oak (Quercus petraea), is of the family Fagaceae.
In the province of Salerno is easy to find these trees in mountainous areas. In the Park of the Monti Lattari they are frequent on Mount Cerreto. It Lives up to 1500-1800 m altitude.
The tree is large and reaches about 20-40m. They live for a very long time in fact they can reach 500-800 years of age and the maximum size is reached on the final 120-200 years.
